Liverpool have sanctioning the temporary departures of two additional players as the new top-flight campaign approaches.
Merseyside-based Liverpool have confirmed that teenager Kieran Morrison has sealed a switch to Sheffield Wednesday in League One on a season-long arrangement.
The 19-year-old wide attacker earned his senior debut for the club in the Carabao Cup against Crystal Palace at Anfield during October, while also featuring regularly for the under-21 side during the previous campaign.
Morrison, who hails from Manchester, progressed through Liverpool’s youth system beginning at under-14 level. He committed his future to the club by signing a fresh contract in May and collected his inaugural senior cap for Northern Ireland during June.
Following the completion of his switch, Morrison expressed on Sheffield Wednesday’s official platform that this represented a significant club with tremendous heritage and passionate supporters, and he was pleased to finalise the move while looking forward to performing before their audience. He noted that everyone recognises the rebuilding phase is underway and he aims to contribute to it. He added that the squad possessed quality and competed in a challenging division, expressing confidence in their potential and his desire to assist in any capacity possible. He mentioned that discussions with the manager about his vision proved persuasive and opened his eyes regarding expectations.
Rasmussen also departed Merseyside temporarily, with reports indicating the full-back has agreed to spend the campaign with Scottish Premiership side St Mirren.
The 23-year-old joined Liverpool from Aberdeen in June 2022 for an initial fee of £4.2 million. He featured regularly among the matchday roster during the latter stages of the previous season, though opportunities to break into the starting lineup appeared limited.
The former Scottish Premiership Young Player of the Year will see his current contract expire upon completion of his loan arrangement, permitting negotiations with alternative clubs from January onwards. His prospects of securing fresh terms at Anfield appear minimal, having made merely four senior appearances since his arrival.
