Liverpool teenager Ifeanyi Ndukwe will remain at Levante until the end of the current campaign but could return to feature for the Merseyside club during the same season.
The Reds have announced that Ndukwe has finalised a temporary switch to the Spanish outfit, with the possibility still existing that the defender might represent his parent club this term.
Ndukwe, a centre-back, is heading to the top division in Spain after making notable progress following his arrival from Austria Vienna during the close season. A deal worth £2.6million had been provisionally agreed earlier in the calendar year.
After featuring throughout the summer preparations on trial, the transfer has now been officially sealed, though the 18-year-old cannot feature in official matches for Liverpool at this moment because of work permit complications.
However, because Ndukwe will be competing in La Liga, games for Levante would immediately elevate him to the standard required to obtain the necessary documentation.
Regardless, Anfield will have a discretionary slot open from February onwards that would enable Ndukwe to feature.
The club therefore retains the possibility of bringing Ndukwe back in January from his time at Levante if circumstances warrant it.
Ndukwe becomes the sixth young Liverpool player to depart on loan this summer, joining Kieran Morrison (Sheffield Wednesday), Calum Scanlon (Cardiff City), Amara Nallo (HJK Helsinki), Armin Pecsi (TSV Hartberg) and Kyle Kelly (Forest Green Rovers).
